Music, Compositions, & Sound Design

My journey in music began at the age of 10 when I first came to find my own sound on clarinet. Receiving private instruction for the first time as I entered undergrad, I developed as a classically-trained clarinetist while discovering the dreams and worlds unfolding across the stories I could create through narrative soundscape composition. My performance practice as a clarinetist, improviser, and poet inspires the convergence of storytelling with immersive breath-like, environmental timbres in my compositions. I compose electroacoustic, chamber, and solo works for concert, installation, and theater. My works uplift everyday Black life through the incorporation of natural and urban field recordings, improvisation, and health-promoting sound design based on music cognition research. As a sound designer for theater and film, I lend my ear to the script as well as the dreams of fellow designers and creative team members to make writers’ worlds immersive, visceral experiences.
